Bliss Women & Children Project — USA

Bliss Women & Children Project — USA ("BWCP-USA") strives to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment to the widows and orphans of Nakuru, Kenya, whose lives have been so profoundly affected by the AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa.

When a young mother in Kenya dies from AIDS, more often than not, her young children are left to fend for themselves.  This is no easy feat for a five-year-old boy or girl, and on too many tragic occasions, these children are taken advantage of by unscrupulous adults who force them into a life of crime and commercialized sexual exploitation.  If not rescued, these youngest and most helpless of the AIDS crisis will see their own lives cut short either by street violence or the very disease that killed their parents.

It is the mission of BWCP-USA to take in as many of these precious souls as possible, giving them a new chance at living up to their full potential.  The BWCP-USA orphanage, founded in 2004 in Nakuru, Kenya, currently provides meals, shelter, clothing, and a loving community to thirty orphans.  With time and help from like-minded donors, BWCP will expand to ten acres of farm land surrounding the current compound, providing enough revenue from rent to become self-sustainable and expand to seventy-five children.
