The mission of Labeling Ecologically Approved Fabrics (LEAF) is to make it easy and accessible for U.S. consumers to identify and purchase sustainably-produced clothing and fabrics.

The LEAF eco-labeling program will serve as a bridge between apparel companies and preferred third-party certification organizations. Once in the retail setting, the LEAF Program will present an easy-to-understand and visible eco-label that communicates where clothing has been third-party certified for specific environmental and social achievements along its supply chain.  

Growing awareness and increased U.S. consumer support for third-party certified apparel products could create greater incentives for the apparel industry to move toward positive change in the way clothing is produced.
