Xela Aid International
A non-profit humanitarian organization, Xela Aid International responds to requests for assistance from those who are disadvantaged in ways that
restore health and well-being to the people and the environment, promote self reliance and cultural understanding, and preserve dignity. Founded in 1992. volunteers from around the world
have participated in projects assisting the underserved of Guatemala who are largely of Maya origin. Xela Aid Int'l has delivered more than $6
million in aid to Guatemala, developing infrastructure including a school, a weaving cooperative, and a clinic. Xela Aid Int'l's core project is support of the June Russel-Glennon Clinic at
San Martin Sacatepequez, near Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, managed locally by Asociacion Xela Aid, a community-based service organization separately incorporated in Guatemala. Xela Aid Int'l
accomplishes this through private fundraising and special events held annually, and through securing in-kind gifts of medicines and equipment. Additionally, yearly, it welcomes volunteer
doctors, optometrists, dentists and support staff through Volunteer Network International's project
"Unidos Por Siempre."
